EARLY LIFE
David enjoyed playing dress ups in his Dad's Army uniform as a kid, which set the tone for an obsession with all things 'green.' In highschool he got a taste of leading, teaching, inspiring (and occassionally yelling) at other students through Army Cadets.
At 18 he enlisted in the Australian Army Special Forces Direct Recruiting scheme, a fast track journey from Civilian to Commando. David was the youngest to pass and 10 years younger than the average age of his cohort, forcing him to grow up with haste.
Suffering a broken back from a parachuting injury at only 20, David juggled the Army, rehab and his side hustle, Architecture, together.
CAREER
In 2009 David deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Special Operations Task Group as a Sniper where he pushed his mind and body to the limit. He learned first hand the power of teamwork and small team leadership.
He then took time to travel the world, study, start a small business and volunteer in a humanitarian aid organisation deploying both to Pakistan and the Thai-Burma border.
David deployed 3 further times to Afghanistan and graduated academic Dux of his Masters of Architecture degree. 6 months in an Architecture office was enough for his wild spirit to know he was cut for more...
David embarked upon the journey of qualifying as a Commando small team leader, learning valuable lessons in command, leadership, teaching and training and what it takes to motivate elite performance.
Though naturally gifted at everything tried, David was not genuinely happy from within and suffered deeply.
A yearning to 'sort-himself-out' had followed him through his 20's and by 30, he was burnt out...

FINDING HIMSELF
After a difficult period integrating life and service, David found himself training as a Climbing Guide in the Australian Army, learning to use outdoor experiences to motivate, inspire and challenge individuals and groups.
This gave him a taste of giving back through his passion, and in 2016 began to see life anew.
In 2017 a simple daily meditation practice entered his life and 3 weeks later, having reconnected to his Inner Guide, David left the Army to pursue a deeper calling. This kicked off a radical period of healing, growth, transformation and sharing.
KAILASH ASHRAM
Destiny brought David to the remote Australian mountains, of the Grampians (Gariwerd), where he established a meditation and yoga retreat, Kailash Ashram to share his passion with the world.
As well as living on the land with his family, he hosts guests year round and runs traditional yoga and meditation retreats.
PERSONAL LIFE
For David, his most cherrished role is in the service of his family. He is a proud Dad of his daughter Tara and husband of his soul mate, Rajni.
He and his family live in the mountains at their retreat with their puppies Odin and Kali, their bird PJ and the animals and elements of Kailash.
